FAQs

I am not sure if treatment is for me - what do you suggest?

Book in for a free 15 minute consultation and meet Amanda who will talk you through the techniques used at the clinic and answer your questions. A free screening will also take place during this appointment. After this chat you can decide if we can help you.

What techniques are used to treat my condition and will it hurt?

Treatment varies from patient to patient. Depending on your age, condition and severity, your care programme may include spinal manipulation (adjustments), spinal mobilisation, physical therapy, soft tissue massage, and myofascial release, as well as advice on exercise and posture. Generally treatment does not hurt, but occasionally there might be some short lived discomfort, which passes quickly for most patients. Every patient responds differently to treatment and our chiropractor tailors treatment plans to the needs of individual patients.

How long are the treatments?

Your initial consultation will normally last up to an hour and follow up treatments are approximately 30 minutes. Treatment times can vary depending on the needs of the patient.

How often will I need to visit?

Your chiropractor will advise you of this during your first visit as it varies for each patient. As a general rule, on average we see a patient for 4-6 treatments. While many of our patients choose to enjoy the long term benefits of regular chiropractic care, some come to us intermittently for more crisis care. The chiropractor will carry out a full assessment on your first consultation and discuss with you your symptoms and medical history. Each patient is different but treatment usually takes place on the first visit, if appropriate

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Chiropractic is a Primary Health Care profession so it isn’t necessary to be referred by your doctor.  However, with your consent, your Chiropractor can communicate with your doctor about your treatment, if you so wish.

Will I need an x-ray?

X-rays will only be taken when it is clinically indicated and where further investigation of your condition is warranted. This will be discussed with you by your chiropractor.

Will my private health insurance cover my treatment costs?

Most major health insurers cover chiropractic care, but please check with your provider for any terms associated with your particular policy.

What training do Chiropractors have?

Chiropractors are educated to a very high standard and have studied for a minimum of four years full time at an internationally recognized chiropractic college (WIOC).  Our practitioner is a registered member of the Chiropractic Association of Ireland and keeps up to date by attending regular continual professional development seminars.

What should I wear for treatment?

It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing; loose-fitting trousers and vest tops/t-shirts are advised. You will also have the option of wearing a gown on your first visit.
